What is Vaman?

Vamana Chikitsa is a one among five main detoxification therapy mentioned in Ayurveda, that involves medically induced vomiting to expel accumulated toxins and excess Kapha dosha from the body. This therapy is performed under expert supervision using natural substances.

Mode of Action:

उपस्थिते श्लेष्मपित्ते व्याधावामाशयाश्रये

In this procedure amashya ashrit toxins gets Expurgated from body.

• Kapha is mainly located in the stomach (Amasaya), and Vamana helps expel excess Kapha from the body.
• Since Kapha is Guru (heavy), Snigdha (unctuous), and Sthira (stable), emesis provides an Urdhvabhag Nirharana (upward expulsion) pathway for its removal.
• Pitta Utkleshana (Aggravation & Regulation of Pitta):
  • After Kapha elimination, Pitta dosha is activated, improving digestion and metabolism (Agni Deepana).
  • This is beneficial in conditions like chronic indigestion, hyperacidity, and liver disorders.

• Vata Anulomna ( Balancing Vata ):
  • By removing Kapha obstruction, Vata flow is normalized, preventing metabolic and neurological imbalances.
