Nasya ( Nasal Administration )

What is Nasya?

Nasya is one of the five Panchakarma therapies in Ayurveda, specifically focused on administering herbal oils, powders, or medicinal liquids through the nasal passages. The nose is considered the gateway to the brain and consciousness, making Nasya highly effective for treating diseases related to the head, sinuses, and respiratory system.

Mode of Action:

  1. Direct Absorption: Medications enter through the nasal mucosa, reaching the brain quickly.
  2. Nerve Stimulation: Activates the olfactory and trigeminal nerves, improving memory and brain function.
  3. Detoxification: Clears Kapha (mucus), Vata (dryness), and Pitta (inflammation), purifying the nasal and sinus channels.
  4. Brain & Nervous System Support: Oils like Anu Taila and Brahmi Ghrita nourish the brain and prevent neurodegeneration.
  5. Respiratory Benefits – Expels excess mucus, relieves congestion, and strengthens the lungs.
  6. Hormonal Balance: Helps relieve congestion, improve lung function, and regulate stress and sleep disorders.
